When money is awarded or contested in a court case, the Court may order for the monies to be placed into the Registry of the Court. The Registry is also where bond money is held for most criminal and civil cases.

The District Clerk of Nueces County maintains the registry and oversees the investment and disbursement of the monies therein for all 8 District Courts and 5 County Courts at Law

Placing Money into the Registry

  • Money may only be placed into the Registry on an Order from the Court. Once the order has been signed you may send in or drop off the money in the form of a cashier's check, money order, or firm check.
  • If the money has been ordered to be invested on behalf of a minor, we will need the minors DOB, SSN, and contact information for the guardians. The money will cannot be invested until this information has been provided.

Requesting Money from the Registry

Most transactions withdrawing monies from the Registry are subject to a 5% Registry Administrative Fee up to $50, as prescribed by LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE 117.055.

Guardian Requesting Money from Minor's Account for Education or Medical Use:

Document required:

  • Motion and Order or Letter Requesting to Withdraw Money from the Registry
  • Guardian's State Issued Photo ID or Passport

Cash Bonds:

Cash Bonds in criminal cases are released to the person who posted the bond, as required by statute.

Document required:

  • Motion and Order to Release Cash Bond

Minor Reaching the Age of Majority:

Document required:

  • Motion and Order to Withdraw Funds
  • Copy of Birth Certificate, Photo ID, Social Security Card
