Connie Scott

Connie Scott was sworn into office as the Nueces County Judge on January 1, 2023. As the main governing body of Nueces County, the Judge and County Commissioners play a critical role that is part administrative, part legislative, and part judicial. The Court’s many responsibilities include adopting a budget; setting tax rates; calling for bond elections; building and maintaining county infrastructure such as roads and bridges; and overseeing county courthouses, jails, libraries, and parks.

As a resourceful small businesswoman, an experienced policy leader, and a reform advocate committed to holding government accountable, Judge Connie Scott brings experience and integrity to the job of Nueces County Judge.

As the county’s chief budget officer, Judge Scott serves as the presiding officer for the commissioners court, is the head of emergency management, and along with her fellow commissioners, represents the county in many administrative functions.

Since taking office, she has been committed to ensuring that Nueces County government is transparent, accessible, and accountable to every resident, improving the quality of life for citizens while building resiliency through infrastructure improvements, and strengthening the county’s emergency management programs. She leads with compassion and integrity and expects results and accountability for Nueces County citizens.

Judge Scott formerly served in the Texas State House of Representatives for District 34 from 2011 to 2013, when her District was absorbed due to redistricting. During her time in the legislature, she served as vice chair on the Board of Directors for the Regional Transportation Authority and was a member of the Defense and Veterans Affairs Committee, the Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee and the Local and Consent Calendars Committee.

Throughout her life, Judge Scott has been guided by the principles of devotion, compassion for others, hard work, personal responsibility, and results. Prior to running for public office, Judge Scott co-owned and ran a small pipeline construction company for 10 years.

She also draws from her experiences as a single mother who raised two children on her own for much of her life. She understands the hardships of working families, and like many of us, her strength and optimism comes from the character and perseverance she’s earned from a difficult upbringing.

Judge Scott is married to Mike, her husband of 21 years. They have four grown children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
